Mangoes & the doshas

So how do the properties of mangoes impact that the doshas (bio-energetic forces) in Ayurveda?:

Vata dosha
Mangoes have a sweet taste and are considered nourishing and grounding, which can help balance Vata dosha. Vata individuals, who tend to have dry and cold qualities, can benefit from the nourishing and warming properties of mangoes. However, mangoes should be consumed in moderation by those with Vata imbalances, as excessive intake may lead to aggravation of Vata due to their cooling nature.

Pitta Dosha
Mangoes have a cooling and refreshing effect, which helps pacify Pitta dosha. Pitta individuals, who have hot and sharp qualities, can benefit from the cooling and soothing properties of mangoes. Mangoes helps alleviate symptoms of Pitta imbalances in the body such as excess heat, acidity and inflammation.

Kapha Dosha
Mangoes are sweet, cooling and juicy and can increase kapha since kapha individuals tend to have heavy and cold qualities. For those with Kapha imbalances, such as excess mucus or congestion, to consume mangoes in moderation and avoid overindulgence.

It's important to consider the ripeness and quality of mangoes when consuming them. Fully ripe mangoes are generally easier to digest and offer optimal flavour and sweetness. Unripe mangoes can be astringent and may aggravate Vata or cause digestive discomfort.

As with any food, moderation is key, and it's advisable to consume mango in appropriate quantities as part of a balanced diet. As with any dietary recommendations in Ayurveda, it's best to consider your overall constitution, imbalances, and specific health conditions.
